Nia Therapeutics is developing implantable brain stimulation devices to restore memory function after brain injury and degenerative disease. Our technology was developed at the University of Pennsylvania with funding from DARPA and our team has demonstrated proof of concept for improving human memory across multiple clinical studies. Our technology has the potential to help patients by improving their memory function, reducing disability and increasing on-the-job performance. JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for an experienced embedded firmware engineer who enjoys solving challenging problems to develop firmware for our smart, connected neurostimulation platform for treating memory impairment. The successful applicant will play a key role in designing and building the firmware for implantable and wearable components of the company's medical device from an engineering prototype to clinical evaluation and will work closely with multi-functional engineering teams. The Embedded Firmware Engineer will gain a deep understanding of the system requirements and research, design, develop, build, and test firmware components of the system.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS in Engineering
  • 5+ experience developing bare metal firmware for embedded devices
  • Fluency in C and its use in embedded systems development
  • Experience in using Oscilloscope / Logic Analyzer for debugging
  • Experience with embedded peripherals such as SPI and USB
  • Experience with ARM-based SoC
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Experience with safety-critical systems
  • Experience with FPGA development and testing
  • Experience with BLE development in the embedded context
  • Experience with design verification testing
  • Security-oriented coding mindset, experience of using cryptographic algorithms in embedded systems
  • Familiarity with physiologic closed-loop controllers development requirements (IEC 60601-1-10)
  • Product development cycle experience from prototyping to manufacturing

Nia Therapeutics has offices in Waltham, MA. Remote work possible for the right candidate. Must be eligible to work in the US.
